Full Moon Sewing

Errrr.  Hello again!  I know I have been saying that a lot lately but life has been so hectic recently.  About three weeks ago, a weather system developed and sat over north Louisiana for about four days.  That meant that the area received 27 inches (~69 cm) of rain in a little over 48 hours.  Our area was hit hard with flooding.  We housed another family for about a week as they were unable to get to their house because of the rising water.  There was no school because of the flood waters.  Needless to say, I got very little sewing done and have been helping to clean and move others in our area.   The bummer part is that 3-5 inches of more rain is forecasted for tomorrow!  Spring is coming in with a bang!

I finally stole an afternoon on a Saturaday to sew the Luna Pants Pattern by Made by Rae.  A wild pair of pants needed the simplicity of the Grainline Scout Tee so I whipped that up on Sunday.

Luna Pants
Size XS

Grainline Studio
Scout Tee
Size:  4

3 yards of maroon cotton
2 yards of black cotton lawn
Coats and Clark Black Cotton Polyester Thread
1" woven elastic (~1.5 yards -- just a guess!!)

I wanted the Luna Pant Pattern as soon as Rae rolled it out.  I cannot resist stylish comfiness.  Even Rae professed that the reason she designed the pants was to be able to wear comfy but stylish pj-like pants in public.  The Luna pattern has five pattern pieces. The waist is finished with a waistband that encloses the elastic and Luna features pockets!  An approachable pant pattern for someone who is apprehensive of pants or for someone who wants a quick sew.
I gravitated toward a loud print to spice up these pants.  Do you get the Hammer pant vibe?  I do and I love the throw-back 90s.  The elastic cinched pant leg adds some definition to the billowy bum area.  Very Hammer-y.
I thought that it might be hard to style these pants.  I was wrong because I have worn them with a cardigan, a tank-top, and the Scout tee.  I am loving that with heels these dress up.  Or sandals, I can survive the onslaught of weekend errands or a day at the ballpark with Jules.  I  am lapping up the compliments!
I followed up the Luna pants with another Scout Tee.  My first Scout Tee is beloved but is tight in the shoulder area.  I raided my stash and found a buttery black lawn.  I sized up to a size four with this new Scout to add a little roomy and a more casual appearance.  The Scout tee in black lawn is very versatile.  With jeans or my Veronica skirt.  The black lends itself to scarves or necklaces galore.

I changed my serger thread to include two black cones and two white cones.  To speed up the Scout tee construction and give it an intriguing look, I decided to finish the sleeves and hem with just the serger.  This is my second Scout and my second Made By Rae pattern.  A winning combo.
